Iron Tide Command

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Iron Tide Command scratches the strategy itch without demanding a wiki to understand. You command a small fleet across a series of island campaigns, balancing fuel, cargo and firepower while the enemy tries to cut off your lanes. Each mission is a self-contained puzzle you can chew on during a bus ride.

There's no real-time panic here — it's turn-based, so you can think, undo, and plan several moves ahead. The tutorial eases you in nicely, and by the third campaign I was setting up ambushes I'd never have spotted at the start. Difficulty ramps fairly and never feels cheap.

It's a little visually plain, but the systems underneath are sharp. Best of all, it runs offline with no interruptions, which is exactly what a thinking game should do.
